Warning of a Dangerous False Teaching ~ Given by Mr. E.W.King
I must bring to the attention of those involved in this ministry [COGSR] a very dangerous teaching that has crept into many groups and is a prominent understanding of those stuck in denominationalism. It is the false doctrine of “self-reliance” or “the inherent goodness in man”. This false teaching became strong when the teachings of Sigmund Freud crept into the social main stream. The communist Carol Marx advocated this teaching as many communists do. If this teaching were true man would have already solved the problem of inherent evil propensities. Obviously man has not nor will he ever, on his own, solve this problem.
Mankind may participate in humanitarian activities but this does not make man pure. This false idea that humans are some how “good” and can conquer all of their problems on their own without God is a doctrine of the Devil. It points to the material makeup of man. It focuses on the material nature and chemical [biological] aspects of man. Many today view the words of Jesus Christ purely on a psychological standard. They have made Jesus out to be some sort of “Heavenly Psychologist”. In doing so they have not taken literally God's Ten Commandments. Many of these false teachers have no problem with somebody calling him or herself “christian” while living in adultery. They claim that all circumstances are “relative” or that we must understand “cultural reality”. They reject the static truth of God's law. The Bible states that God does not change!
There is nothing wrong with finding out chemical deficiencies in man and trying to help but God's moral standard must never be rejected. Rejecting God's morals is what got this planet into all the trouble that it is in. There is also the false idea of so called “Christian Psychology”. Did Jesus teach this? I think not. There is a place for medical doctors but not a place for fake philosophy and so called, “Psycho-therapy”. Many have left the true teachings of the Church of God to follow the 500 plus psychotherapeutic myths. Can true Christian teachers [counselors] help people who need direction in life? Absolutely! If these people who need help have some chemical imbalance then science can indeed help. But to dismiss God's perfect moral law and the influence of the true Holy Spirit is blasphemy!
Many of these “New Age” psychologists claim that all problems stem from the “bewildered parents”. They say things like: “There is nothing wrong with the child but only with how the child was raised.” Again, this is the false and very dangerous doctrine of “the inherent goodness in man”. All moral choices are explained away by this argument. All choices are forced upon the individual and how she or he was raised. There is no doubt that abusive relationships can cause mental disorders but to say that ALL our problems as humans are based on this and this only is human arrogance. This also goes against the Biblical doctrine of “election”.
Many people attend the modern “Change your Life” seminars. These seminars teach people not to worry about how many times that they may need to be married. As long as they “find their true self”. This is the hocus-pocus nonsense of Satanism. These seminars teach people that everything in their lives, their decisions which involve what the Bible calls “sin” are really not sin but growing steps.
Pure psychology is the “cult of self-worship”. It teaches that YOU in and by yourself have the power to change the “self”. The Bible teaches a very different doctrine. The Bible says that only Jesus Christ can truly change you and make you a better person. The false teachers get you to focus only on yourself: self-esteem, self-love, self-image, self-fulfillment, self-development, self-assertion, self-acceptance add infinitum.
Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong stated: “Education in the civilized world today has become entirely materialistic. Education has become a combination of the agnosticism of evolution, the politics and economics of Karl Marx and the morals and social patterns of Sigmund Freud. Higher education remains in utter ignorance of the mystery of mankind and of human civilization.” [from Mystery of the Ages, ch.3 “The Mystery of man”]
I have hope that many who have been confused by false teachers will begin to listen to God. I would like to help point you to God's word. Only in God's word will you find true answers.
I hope to do more articles regarding this dangerous subject. In the mean time; Stay in God's Word! If God is calling you to be a part of this ministry please do not wait! Contact me now!
